Ellen: Hey, everybody. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and we're going to take a quick look at the DOT-approved warning triangles.If something's happened with your vehicle while you're out on the road, it's always a good idea to have this kit with you, especially if you're on the road a lot. If you do any kind of overland trucking or you're towing a lot, anything where you're going to be on the road all the time, this is just a smart kit to have with you. It allows other drivers to see that there's a car on the side of the road, so hopefully it will give you a little bit more room to work so you don't have to worry about anybody clipping you while you're trying to fix something that's gone wrong with your vehicle.As far as what this kit comes with, it does come with the three triangles plus a storage box, so that makes it pretty easy to transport. And picking it up, it was heavier than I really anticipated, and that's a good thing because you don't want these to be able to be easy to knock over. That's why it's got these weighted bases to make sure that they're going to be really stable.

Also, a couple of tabs on either side of that triangle to make sure that even when you're on the highway and experiencing some winds, this really shouldn't get knocked over at all easily.Let's take a closer look. I'll show you how to put them together and also how to take them apart.I've got this one completely assembled. This is how you would want to use it with the triangle perpendicular to that base to give it the most stability. You can see, again, those little tabs, just help to keep it stable side to side so it really doesn't want to move. It will wobble a little bit front to back, but that's nothing that's really that big a deal.

We'll have this reflective material along the outside of our triangles. That's going to be front and back, so again, it gives you that high visibility while you're trying to do some work on your vehicle.Pretty easy to take apart. Just kind of pull them apart, and then just slide them down or fold them down here, and they will sort of slot in together. And just twist it to close. There is a little tab that these slide into, so you want to make sure that you get it into that tab so that it doesn't fall apart, or not fall apart, but just so it doesn't come apart while you're working with it.

Again, to put it together, you bring it up, and then you do have to kind of pass these over each other. Kind of lift them all the way up, and then they meet together so they're sort of pressing against each other or kind of offset, so again, gives it more stability. And those are the tabs right there on the top where they need to meet it.It's pretty typical of most other triangle kits that are out there, pretty universal design as far as that goes. As far as the size, with the base .. Move this out of the way.

It's about 17 and three-quarter inches long. And then whenever it's completely assembled, each triangle measures about 17 inches tall. The width is about an inch and a half for that base. And I'll put all these guys away, and then we can talk about how big that storage box is just to make sure you have room for it in your trailer or in your truck or wherever you're going to be putting this.And it does weigh a little bit, but not anything that's going to be too hard to transport. I think it weighs about 10 pounds, so just something that needs to be mounted in. This tab i kind of fighting me here, so that is one little thing. It's not a really big deal, but it's a kind of annoying part of it because it should just slide right in there. But we can still get it into the box and store it away. The box is a little bit taller than it is wide, so there is kind of one direction that these fit and just want to offset them. You can see, I have the bases kind of going in opposite directions. That just helps it to fit a little bit better inside there.We put our cap over it again. Kind of one direction that that goes. And just kind of have to push the corners in to get that all put away. Once all those guys are put in place, it's about 18 inches by four and three-quarters by four and a half. There are also instructions printed into this box, so if you forget how to assemble it or you're working with somebody else who's unfamiliar with how these go together, that's right there. And then it also has a diagram of the placement, so you want to have your warning triangle about, in front of your vehicle and behind, and it gives you some directions on how to do that. I know it's kind of hard for you to see on camera, but it's always nice to have those instructions built into the container.That's pretty much all there is to it for our look at the warning triangles.
