What is the Speed Rating for the Trailer Tires at etrailer

Question:

I purchased a camping trailer a few weeks ago and ordered several items from etrailer. I could not believe that they arrived 3 days after I ordered and the packing was second to none. Awesome! Now you have a loyal customer. Part of that order was the spring over axle lift kit, and now I am looking at larger diameter tires than the 13inch that I have. I also do not want to be restricted to a 65mph tow speed. I have read my trailers owners manual and there is no restriction on speed other than the speed limit. I repacked the bearings with synthetic grease and they are cool to the touch after hours at 65mph. Currently, the 13inch ST tires are rated at only 65mph, I have a fully capable tow vehicle for higher speeds and want to be able to tow at 75mph plus. Some speed limits here in Texas are even 85mph. I have not installed the lift kit yet to determine my maximum diameter but hope to be able to use a 14inch or 15inch tire. I have been looking at tire manufacture websites and not having much luck on speed ratings. I need a load rating of no less than 1750lbs. Do you have any suggestions for ing a tire for my application?

The highest speed rating tire that I have seen is 65 miles per hour. It doesn't have anything to do with the quality of the tire or even towing. It is because of how trailer tires are made. They are built with a thicker sidewall than passenger vehicles tires. The thicker sidewall generates more heat. The faster you go the more heat they create. So it is not a good idea to go faster than the speed rating of the tire.

The next step up from a 13 inch tire would be a 14 inch in size 205/75-14. I have included a link to the tires we carry in this size.
