The Best Oil and Transmission Coolers for a 2014 Ford Explorer
Question:
Ive noticed that the Explorers that come with the OEM tow package have an oil cooler and the ones without the package do not. Would this be a necessary addition to my Explorer if Im adding a hitch?

You do not have to add an oil cooler or supplemental transmission cooler if you do not want to. but Ford might require it to reach the maximum tow rating for your 2014 Ford Explorer. You will want to check the owners manual to determine if those items are required.
It would not be a bad idea to add them even if you do not have to. They will help protect and prolong the life of the vehicle motor and transmission.
I recommend a combination cooler # D15902 which is both a transmission and oil cooler in one. I have included a couple of links to the right with additional information on coolers.
