Towing Capacity for 1999 Ford Explorer with 4.0 Liter Engine
Question:
I have a 6x10foot enclosed cargo trailer that carries tools and equipment air compressor, rolling tool box, small parts. My best guess is that the trailer weighs at most 1500 lbs, fully loaded. Ive pulled it with 1/2 ton Chevy 5.3L V8, and noticed it only when climbing hills. Could I safely pull this trailer with a 1999 Ford Explorer 4L V6, 4wd?

I looked up the towing capacity of your 1999 Ford Explorer 4.0 liter and it looks to have a capacity of 4,799 lb so towing a 1,500 lb trailer would not be an issue at all. If you wanted to install an oil and transmission cooler like the Derale part # D15902 this wouldn't be a terrible idea at all, but it realistically wouldn't be absolutely necessary.
