Is the Brophy # HES6 a Hitch Extender for a 1-1/4 Inch Receiver

Question:

Regarding part no. Hes 6.....its not 100 clear to me that this part fits into an 1 1/4inch hitch and then the trailer, in my case a bike rack with an 1 1/4inch tongue, fits into that. So, its an 1/1/4inch to a 1 1/4inch extension? Thanks....

The Brophy # HES6 is an hitch extender for a 1-1/4 inch receiver. It features a 1-1/4 inch shank on one end and a 1-1/4 inch receiver on the other. It will move a hitch mounted accessory like a bike rack or a ball mount 6 inches further away from the rear of the vehicle.

Using the extender will reduce the tongue weight capacity of your hitch by half. If your hitch is a Class I with a 200 lb tongue weight capacity, using the extender will reduce that to 100 lbs. For a Class II hitch that typically has a 300 lb tongue weight capacity, the capacity would be reduced to 150 lbs. Your hitch should have a sticker on it that will state if it's a Class I or II, as well as its tongue weight capacity.
