Trailer Tire Recommendation to Replace 4.80-12 Tires on a Boat Trailer, Boat Weighs 1,800 lbs

Which is for my boat that weighs 1800 lbs? It has 4.80-12 tires. Thanks. John

I would recommend you upgrade your bias ply trailer tires to a radial like the Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Trailer Tire # AM10140. As long as your trailer can fit a tire that is an inch taller and wider this tire would work well for you since it has a 1,520 lb capacity per tire when inflated to 80 psi. At the maximum air pressure, the tires will perform and wear best, and get the best gas mileage.


If a trailer tire is inflated to a lower air pressure than the maximum, the amount of weight that the tire can carry will be reduced. If a heavier load is put on the trailer tire than what is recommended for that air pressure, the sidewall of the tire could heat up and cause the tire to fail.
