Installation of B and W Companion 5th Wheel # BWRVK3500-5W in Silverado 1500 With Bed Rug

I am looking at the bw companion 3500 however I have a bed rug installed and just noticed the plastic feet to fit in the grooves in the truck bed. I was familiar with the 3000 which did not have those feet. Can the feet be left off and be safe or should I look for an older 3000 model Thanks.

The presence of a bed rug in your 2014 Silverado 1500 should not pose an issue for using the B and W Companion 5th wheel hitch # BWRVK3500-5W as long as there is no plastic bed liner under it. The feet in the base of the Companion should not be removed from the hitch; these need to rest within the bed's corrugations. The only issue that might arise when using the Companion is if the bed rug acted like a washer and prevented proper alignment of the 5th wheel assembly with the locking pin that secures it in place.

B and W does not test fit its products with other truck accessories in place so you will have to make a judgement call based on the thickness of the bed rug. At most you might have to trim out small sections of the bed rug to allow full contact of the hitch base with the truck bed.
