Troubleshooting No Power to Battery Feed on Trailer Connector on 2014 Chevrolet Silverado  

Question:

2014 silverado, The 30 amp fuse under rthe hood went bad, replaced it and still no power to feed the battery in the trailer.

If your Silverado's +12V trailer power feed did work properly at some point but then blew a fuse, I suggest you carefully inspect the trailer connector and wiring for any condition that could cause a short. Look for worn or cracked insulation on the 12V circuit's wiring; also check for a secure ground at the main vehicle and trailer connectors. A circuit tester like # PTW2993 will allow you to test the 12V feed at all connection points.

If the power feed has not functioned at all then you may still need to make some wiring connections within the engine compartment to activate the trailer power circuit.

Also, please note that a 40-amp fuse is usually required to handle the trailer's power draw.
