Brake Controller and Harness Installation for 2009 Honda Pilot Touring
Question:
Im interested in purchasing a trailer brake controller for my 2009 Honda Pilot Touring. The controller Im interested in is Part Numbers: 90195, 3070-P. One problem though, Ive located the brake controller wire under the dash right by the emergency brake and the connector looks different.

The Tekonsha P3 Proportional Brake Controller # 90195 is an excellent choice for its proven reliability and ease of use. The matching quick-connect harness # 3070-P is intended for use on Pilots that have the factory 7-way trailer socket installed at the rear of the vehicle. (Vehicles that are so equipped will have the under-dash port). There can be multiple harnesses/connectors under your dash, including an OBD-II port for diagnostics, so if you have a factory 7-way you should have the port; the harness may be tucked in or taped to other wiring.
If your Pilot did not come from the factory with the 7-way you will need to do a hard-wired installation using brake controller install kit # ETBC7. Your Pilot will also need to have a working 4-pole wiring harness in order to install the ETBC7. If needed, I suggest you use the custom-fit Tow Ready # 118491.
For your reference I have linked two helpful articles and a video showing brake controller installation in a Honda Pilot.
