Are Additional Relays Needed to Install Trailer Wiring Harness 119250KIT on a 2014 Acura MDX
Question:
When I ordered this, I didnt notice the comment that you may need to purchase a relay from the ACURA dealer to activate the tow package. Is this the same relay listed on some OEM ACURA sites as part of the OEM wiring kit: 15 39794-SDA-A03 / RELAY ASSY., POWER MICRO ISOOMRON $6.00 discounted to $4.44 and shown in a diagram as 2 little square items? In the OEM case, these plug into the OEM wiring harness but I dont see anything in the 119250KIT kit that would be a receptacle for these. Where would they plug in? If not theres some other kind of relay required, Id like to know what kind of a relay to ask for. I hope this wont be a big deal as the extra cost plus the hassle of getting the right thing makes the discounted OEM wiring kit seem more attractive. There were no instructions included with the kit and I cannot find a video for this year and model. In another QandA, someone mentioned lack of instructions and you provided a link if I recall correctly. Can I get a link to some instructions for this?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The note you mentioned about possibly needing a relay should not apply to wiring harness # 119250KIT on your 2014 Acura MDX. This is because the harness does not use any of the factory installed tow package wiring connections. The # 119250KIT harness gets the signals it needs from connecting to the vehicle tail light wiring and from the connection to the vehicle battery. No additional relays are needed.
The instructions are linked on the product page, and on this page, on the right hand side.
