Trying To Decide Between Reese Dual Cam II And Reese Strait Line
Question:
Trying to decide between reese dual cam II with no drill brackets and the reese straight line with drilled brackets under frame. can only find one review on dual cam and he said it was incredibly hard to hook up. not crazy about drilling frame but certainly can. im sure one will work as well as other.Mainly concerned with connecting ease and adjustment of cams. wondered what your experience is. I noticed in Reeses 2024 catalog they only show the dual cam II. ???

Hello again, Phil. Out of those two options I definitely recommend the Reese Dual Cam II # RP65FR with the no-drill frame brackets. In my experience, any WD system that uses no-drill L-brackets that bolt to the frame is going to be much easier to set up, and more effective than a system that uses bolt on brackets or chains.
Any WD hitch installation can require a bit of trial and error until you get it set up just right. You may have to adjust the position of the brackets and the pitch of the head which can mean, in some cases, setting up the hitch 2-3 times. Generally, the initial installation will take a few hours. Once you have everything set up and adjusted correctly, connecting and disconnecting the WD hitch will be much more simple. My advice is just take your time and follow the instructions precisely. As far as WD hitches go, the Reese Dual Cam II is on the easier side as far as installation. It sounds like you are fairly familiar with how these things work so I don't think you will have much trouble with it. You will find the manufacturer instructions linked below if you want a closer look.

Last reply I sent didn’t seem to go, so I will try from this one. In a previous question, you said the Trunion spring bars would put the center of the hitch bracket 30 inches back from the center of the ball. I ordered the Duke cam two hitch but the spring bar is they sent me are the same length as my old round bars 31 1/2 inches. On another question someone asked they were tall and showing a picture that the new spring bars are 33 inches long which would put the center at 30 inches. The ones they sent me our number 66092. I’m really disappointed because the inch and a half would’ve made a big difference on clearing my propane tanks , which can only be moved one inch because of the jack I wondered if there was a mistake or just what went wrong here they sent me the wrong bars didn’t even know. They made Tron bars that short
