Solution for Connecting to Cold Side of Brake Switch on 2019 Subaru Outback
Question:
I recently purchased the Tekonsha BRAKE-EVN Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 4 Axles - Proportional and the ETBC7. I am unable to get to the brake switch cold wire to make a connection on my 2019 Outback. Is it OK to run a separate wire from the brake controller to the rear of car and splice into the brake wire on the optional four-way connector? Thanks for your help

Hi John; I would not run a wire all the way back and try to connect it on your 4-way to install the # TK63VR. Instead, you can use the Roadmaster Universal Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751000. The kit will become the new connection point for your red wire and you won't run any risk of overloading a circuit. This is often the solution for vehicles where you can't access the cold side of the brake switch.
