How to Find Stoplight Circuit for Installing Brake Controller on a Dodge Journey
Question:
I bought a 2015 Tab camper, and drive a 2013 Dodge Journey, the Tab dealer said because my car has LED light makes it a lot harder to hock up a electric trailer brake control to work. So he hocked it up so that I have to operate in manually. I wanted it to operate with the brake pedal. They installed a Voyager 9030. Can it work the way I want it to, and how?

Yikes, the camper dealer you went to really didn't do you any favors by only installing your brake controller so that it can operated with the manual override lever. We can definitely help as the only safe way to tow with a brake controller is so that it activates with the brake pedal of your vehicle.
You will start by locating the brake light switch under the dash and above the brake pedal. Using a circuit tester, like # PTW2993, test each wire until you find the one that has a signal ONLY when the brake pedal is pressed. That is the wire you need to connect to the red wire of the brake controller on your 2013 Dodge Journey. I have also included an FAQ on wiring a brake controller from scratch that might help.
