Recommended Replacement Actuator W/ Reverse Lockout for a TDE LP7000 Actuator

Question:

I picked up a new to me 2008 Four Winns H190 yesterday. The trailer backs up fine on level ground or on declines but when I tried backing it up my inclined driveway, the surge brakes kicked on. I eventually went to Home Depot and stuck a 3/8” bolt in the hole behind the ball which worked. I traced the blue wire back to the reverse lockout solenoid. Should I try replacing that first or do I need to look at replacing the whole brake actuator? It has the TDE LP7000 but I know TDE is no longer around. I’m not sure a Dexter brake actuator 3” replacement would fit. Thanks

Hey Ryan, yeah you're right TDE is no longer a thing and unfortunately we don't carry a replacement reverse solenoid for that actuator so at this moment your best bet would be to replace the entire thing with the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout # DX56FR.

This actuator has a reverse lockout so you won't have the issue you're having now, and will work just fine as a replacement as long as you have a 3" x 5" straight tongue trailer. If you don't then you'd need to let me know what you have and I can see if we have one that fits your tongue.
