Replacement Brake Actuator for Tie Down Engineering LP7000

Question:

Hello, The LP7000 I would like to replace slides into the tongue frame of my current trailer. The DX model looks like it’s designed to mount on the top of the frame, and being secured by the three holes along the base. Is that correct? The tongue width on my trailer is 3 3/8” will the DX89FR rest on top of that frame? Thanks

In terms of capability the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout - Bolt On - Disc - 2" Ball - Zinc - 7.5K # DX89FR is a good replacement option. The problem is the design of your old TDE LP7000 which was installed inside the tongue of the trailer.

The # DX89FR and others like it fit standard 3" wide trailer tongues. The actual inside dimension will be 3-1/8" to be able to go over the 3" tongue. With that 3-3/8" measurement you will not be able to fit a replacement actuator on the tongue. It may not be the most convenient option, but I recommend replacing the tongue with a standard tongue in order to be able to install an actuator like the Dexter DX7.5L A-60.
