Length Of Shaft Needed For 12" Roller With End Caps On Both Ends

Question:

Hi, I am looking to install the Yates Endcap for Side Guide Rollers - Heavy-Duty Rubber - 5/8" Shaft - Qty 1 Item # YR224-5 on the ends of a 12" roller. Can I use the: [Roller Shaft with Pal Nuts for Boat Trailer Rollers - Zinc-Plated Steel - 13" x 5/8" Item # CE10727A - Boat Trailer Guide-On Roller, 2-1/2" Diameter x 12"Long by Dutton-Lainson Item # DL21554 - and CE Smith Panel Bracket for 12" Boat Trailer Rollers - Galvanized Steel Item # CE10305G] with those end caps on both ends?

Hi Melissa,

You can definitely install 2 of # YR224-5 end caps on the ends of the # DL21554 while on the # CE10305G bracket, but not with the # CE10727A roller shaft.

Each end cap will add 1-1/2" of length so you would need a roller that is at least 15-1/2" long to accommodate the extra length and a little more for the pal nuts to have a good purchase area. That said, we do not have one in that specific length so your best bet would be to grab the Roller Shaft w/Cap Nuts 19" x 5/8" # 107-30A and cut it down to the needed length. This would be the best option for what you would like to do.
