Replacement Hub/Drum and Hydraulic Brake Assembly for Boat Trailer With 3,500 lb Axle and 13" Wheels

Question:

I see that this will work on 13” wheels. Is there a brake set that will work with this for 13” wheels ? All the ones I see are for 14,15”wheels? I’ll be putting them on a boat trailer? And can you put them on a double axle trailer all four tires ? Could you tell me which drum would be better for a boat trailer this one or the AKHD-545-35-G-EZ-K? They seem the same? Could you tell me which one would be best to put on a boat trailer. The T43397007K or a dm72vr ?

The # 8-247-50UC3-EZ and # AKHD-545-35-G-EZ-K will both fit and work with your 13" wheels. These are also compatible with the # 40716-15 from your previous question. For the most part it comes down to cost between the two hub/drum assemblies. However, since this will be going in the water on your boat trailer I would stick with the Dexter which has the 500-hour salt spray rating.

The Hydraulic Brake Kit # AKFBBRK-35-D will work with your 13" wheels but I would stick with the Demco. The galvanized backing plates will hold up better than the Dacromet will. Both of these will work with the Kodiak Hydraulic Brake Hose # bh-3mfs-6.

Between the Dexter # T43397007K and Demco # DM72VR I would go with the Demco. The only reason I would choose the Dexter is if you need the adjustable fit for 1-7/8", 2" and 50-mm balls. The EZ-Latch coupler mechanism on the Demco will be a lot easier to use and even lets you hook up when the latch is in the closed position.
