The best way to pick out a jack is to pick out one that has enough capacity to handle the tongue weight of your trailer. Typically, tongue weight is 10-15 percent of the total weight of the trailer. So lets say your boat and trailer weight a total of 10,000 lbs. Most likely you would have a tongue weight of 1,000-1,500 lbs.

Without knowing your tongue weight but knowing the weight of your boat I recommend you take a look at a 2,000 lb jack like the etrailer Round Snap Ring Swivel Jack w/ Footplate - Bolt On - Black - Topwind - 10-1/2" Travel - 2K # TJBB-2001-B. Review video attached.

I also attached an FAQ article on trailer jacks for you to check out.
