Can a Trailer Wiring Harness 4-Way Be Stored Outside of a 1999 Jeep Cherokee

1999 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO my jeep does not have the tow package do i still have the quick connect wiring so i can use this converter Also can i run this converter so that i can leave the plug outside not stored inside the jeeo i am going to buy a light that fits in my hitch thanks for the advice

You should not have to have the factory tow package to install trailer wiring harness # C55369 on your 1999 Jeep Cherokee.
In order to stow the 4-Way on the outside of the Jeep you will have to look for a grommet that exists through the cargo area. You will likely have to remove panels and the spare tire to find a grommet. If there is no grommet you will have to drill a hole (careful not to drill through things on the other side!).
Then you will need to seal up the hole after routing the 4-Way through it with a rubber plug and/or silicone. Then you will also likely need a mount bracket such as # 18144 to hold the 4-Way.
