Best Trailer Hitch Receiver For Liftgate Clearance Using Saris MHS Bike Rack On 2024 Subaru Outback
Question:
Which of the hitches you sell for a 22-24 Outback will stick out the most relative to the bumper? The issue I am concerned about showed up when we got a new 2023 Forester with factory hitch. The receiver does not stick out very far, consequently the rear hatch cant be opened/closed with the Saris MHS bike rack attached in the up position. Trying to avoid that on a new Outback I am purchasing. If you have measurements of receiver recess from bumper face that would be very helpful.

Our etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e25TR is going to provide you with the most rear bumper clearance on your 2024 Subaru Outback. Our receiver is only 2-1/2" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the rear edge of your bumper. The Draw-Tite # DT73RR you found we measured at 6" from the hitch pin center hole to the rear edge of the bumper. Placing our etrailer receiver a full 3-1/2" further back to reduce the chance of you having an issue with your Saris MHS Bike Rack # SAR73MR. I have also linked a video we have of this bike rack on a 23 Outback with our receiver and you can see the rear hatch open with the rack tilted away from the vehicle.
The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56040 will give you a 4-way flat connector if you run Auxiliary Lights # C53201 on your bike rack.
