Can The Replacement Bent Towing Receiver SP325 Be Used On Other Bike Racks?
Question:
Hi! Can the Bent Towing Receiver for Swagman Traveler XCS - Platform-Style 2 Bike Rack Item # SP325 be used with other hitch bike racks? Looks like fitment isnt an issue, but are there other things we would need to consider? We have the Rocky Mounts Split Rail rack, which is 44 lbs. We may be carrying 2 bikes weighing as much as 35 lbs each.

While it may technically be possible to fit the Replacement Bent Towing Receiver # SP325 to other racks, this is not something we recommend doing. The Replacement Bent Towing Receiver # SP325 is designed to only fit the Swagman Traveler XCS - Platform-Style 2 Bike Rack, which is now discontinued. If you attempt to use this with another bike rack, you are really getting into unknown territory, and we cannot say with certainty that the setup will be safe or secure.
Using this part for any other applications may result in non-warranty damage to your bike rack, bikes and potentially more. This is not a risk we recommend taking.
If you need to tow a trailer and carry a bike rack I suggest taking a look at the Flint Hill Goods Ball Mount w/ 2" Receiver # FHG75VR. This is basically a standard ball mount with a 2" accessory receiver on top. Rated for 5,000 lbs or 500 lbs of tongue weight.
