Recommended High Low Adapter and Hitch Mounted Mud Flap System

Question:

Can you recommend a drop-hitch for my 2021 Jayco precept 34G motorhome and the tow vehicle 2017 Jeep Rubicon Recon? The motorhome has a receiver hitch installed but there is a height difference between the motorhome hitch and the existing tow bar mounting (Roadmaster 1444-1). The ground to tow-bar receiver hitch height is approximately 14 inches. Also can you provide a recommendation for a hitch mounted mud-flap for this motorhome? I have ordered the tow base plate kit 1444–3 to replace the existing baseplate. I need an emergency breakaway cable if you can also provide that part number.

I would be happy to. In order to be considered level the tow bar needs to be within 3" of your motorhome's receiver when connected to your Jeep. I am not sure how tall your Jeep is but the Blue Ox Adjustable Drop Hitch Receiver Adapter item # BLU28XR can be adjusted down to 8". If your motorhome has a 2-1/2" receiver you'll want item # BLU48CR. One of these should easily get you within the required 3".

For a set of hitch mounted mud-flaps, I recommend the Rock Tamers Heavy-Duty, Adjustable Mud Flap System item # ERT00108 for 2" hitches or the item # ERT00110 for 2-1/2" hitches. These can be trimmed down to whatever size works best for you.

For a breakaway cable you will want the Replacement Roadmaster Coiled Breakaway Cable for Flat Tow Brake Systems item # RM-8603.
