Replacement Bypass Valve For A Dometic Water Heater

Question:

This valve works fine ... until I put vinegar as recommended by dometic into the dometic hot water heater to get rid of a rotten egg smell. The vinegar destroyed the valve seat, stopping flow in both directions. What is a suitable valve to use as a replacement?

I am sorry to hear that. Usually the vinegar solution is a completely safe cleaning method. To replace the valve I recommend the Valterra RV Water Heater Bypass Valve # P23401LF. I prefer this one over the others because it is the approved replacement from Dometic, and we have received much better feedback on these than we have with other brands.

There isn't a check valve or back-flow preventer built into the part #CAM37463 but if you needed that function you could install the #CAM23303 which is the same size and has a back-flow preventer built into it.
