Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2023 Ford Escape Plug In Hybrid
Question:
I am about to purchase a Ford 2023 Escape Hybrid Plug-in and roadmaster states to use this RM-524443-5 baseplate: Any advice you can give me? I am also concerned about power to 12v plug and brake light working in tow mode? I currently have the Falcon 2 tow bar. I think I can find the other parts I will need to get signals working and power to charge battery while towing. Thanks!

For the plug-in hybrid model of the 2023 Ford Escape we only have the Blue Ox base plate kit part # BLU82CR as a confirmed fit. This can easily be used with a Roadmaster tow bar with the adapter part # RM-031.
For lighting you can use the diode kit, # RM-15267, and not have to worry about cutting into the taillight housing. This will splice into your taillight wiring to allow your tow vehicle to control the taillight assemblies of the towed vehicle. This comes with a round 6-way connector that you will install on the front of your towed vehicle and enough coiled wire to go from there to the RV. For a charge line kit you'd just need the part # RM-156-25
And finally, most states now require supplemental braking in the vehicle being flat towed. The easiest system to set up and use is the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR, that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.
