Recommended Base Rail Kit For A 2019 Ford F-150 Short Bed

I have a 2021 f150 5.5 ft bed and need mounting brackets for 5th wheel. Dont know if the universal ones will work. Thanks

Having installed universal rails in an older F-250 I can say with complete confidence that the money saved isn't worth the time you'll spend trying to drill through the frame to get all the bolts through, especially if you don't have lifts to make the job easier. I recommend going with the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Ford # C93WR instead. This custom-fit kit uses the holes already in the frame to minimize drilling for a quicker and easier installation.

Since you have a 5.5' bed you'll need to use a fixed hitch with a rotating pin box and compatible wedge kit or a sliding hitch like the Demco Autoslide # DM8550040 to avoid hitting the cab of the truck with the nose of the trailer when making turns.
