Fifth Wheel Hitch Mounting Location in 2014 Ford F150
Question:
I have a Demco 13k slider hitch Reese 30035 rails and 58426 Brackets. There is 2 mounting options 1 1/2 in front of axle and centered over the axle. What is the benefit of moving forward of the axle? Which one is better?

Expert Reply:
According to the installation instructions, the bed rails of the # RP58426 kit would install so that the hitch king pin sits 1-1/2 inches forward of the rear axle centerline, as shown in the provided diagram.
Be aware, unless your 5th wheel has a Reese Sidewinder/Revolution pivoting pin box, there's an excellent chance you will not have sufficient clearance between the front of the 5th wheel and the back of the cab during turns. The Sidewinder is pin box specific, if you'd care to reply with the model number of your pin box, I'd he happy to recommend a Sidewinder model for you.
I'll link you to a help article that explains how the Sidewinder works.
