Question:

Good morning, I have a 2006 jeep wrangler sport that we flat towed, not sure what the base plate name was but I tow with a roadmaster falcon 2 tow bar. First question will the base plate from the 06 fit my new to me 2017 wrangler unlimited Sahara, second if not which base plate is needed? 3rd Which wiring kit for lights? I uploaded both jeeps photos. Thank you in advance.

You'll need a new base plate kit for your 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara as the older style on your 2006 Wrangler isn't compatible with your newer vehicle.

There are 2 style choices we have for your 2017 model that will also work with your Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar # RM-520:

- Direct-Connect # RM-521448-5
- Crossbar-Style # RM-521448-4

I prefer the Direct-Connect style because it's less weight you have to deal with and the connection is a little easier to make. Since you already have that crossbar from your 2006 model you can easily move that over to use with the Crossbar-Style if you'd rather stick with that.

When it comes to the wiring I recommend picking up the Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit # HM56200 since it tees in behind your factory tail light assemblies, which means a faster install time and you aren't cutting into the factory wiring. You can cut the 4-Way off of the Hopkins and either use the 6-Way socket and mounting bracket from your '06, or you can use the 6-Way Connector # RM-910030-7 and Mounting Bracket # RM-910030-5 to finish up the installation on your '17 model.

Everything else from your 2006 model should be transferrable over to the 2017 model but if you have any other questions feel free to fire them my way!
