what is the best adhesive to seal the edge of an aluminum roof on a race trailer? Id prefer something that fits on a caulk gun or comes with an applicator.

For your race trailer with aluminum roof panels it will seal on the edges with a Butyl Tape # AL64UV. Then you will use either a Non-Sag # AL33KV or Self-Leveling # AL68KV sealant to seal the mounting screws and edges of the aluminum roof panels to prevent water from getting inside your trailer.

Although I would not be able to speak on the installation of the part(s) you received for your trailer, I can tell you that the TremPro 644 Silicone Sealant part #0160297 will do an excellent job of sealing your new aluminum panel to the trailer…

GM does not supply the attaching nuts required to secure the wires to the studs. These can be obtained locally. You will need (1) M6 x 1.0 nut, #185916 and (1) M8 x 1.25 nut, #185917. I have attached an FAQ for you that may also help.
