Locating OEM Plug for 7-Way on 2022 Ram 5500 Cab and Chassis

Question:

I have a 2022 Ram 5500, cab and chassis, with an aftermarket utility box. I cannot find an OEM plug for this wiring harness. Do you have any suggestions on where it will be. Also, is this wiring harness confirmed to fit this truck. There are two OEM Plugs with caps on the rear cross member, but neither of them match the image on your site nor have power to them for lights. The dealership does not have a part for a trailer harness. I hope you can help. Thanks.

The OEM plug that would allow you to use the # HM40975-11933 should be found at the rear of your 2022 Ram 5500. Everything indicates that your truck has the rectangular factory plug that would allow you to use this wiring harness. Typically this would be found behind a cover for the 7-way but I don't have an exact location for a 5500 cab and chassis.

If you still can't find it you could check for a brake controller port. This would have the brake output wire that runs back to the 7-way so you could trace it back to find the plug. You might also want to check your fuse box. If you have fuses for the trailer wiring I'm willing to bet you have the connector somewhere. If all else fails, you might want to try swinging by the dealership to see if they can locate it.

If it turns out you don't have the factory wiring, you can install an aftermarket 7-way on your truck. You will need the # C59236 to add a 4-way. Once installed, you can use the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7 to upgrade it to a 7-way.
