Recommended WD Hitch For A 2023 4Runner Towing A Rockwood A214HW
Question:
Hello, I am looking for recommendations on trailer setup. I have a 2023 4Runner towing a Rockwood A214HW dual propane and batteries. My clearance on trailer coupler to body is obscured by propane mount between 20-25”. Thank you.

I can certainly point you in the right direction. According to the online owners manual, a Rockwood A214HW has hitch weight of 353 lbs. Looking at pictures of these campers, it certainly looks like there is limited space on the tongue. In that case we have a few options.
First we could go with the Fastway e2 # FA92-00-0600. The frame brackets on this system need to be placed between 27"-30" back from the hitch ball. This is their 6,000 lb system, and will work on trailers with a tongue weight between 300 and 600 lbs. Keep in mind that with this WD hitch, the trailer ball is sold separately.
If you do not have room on the tongue for brackets, one option is to use the Reese Weight distribution system # RP65509. You would use this along with the bolt on chain hangers # RP58305. These brackets actually bolt directly to the side of the frame. So if the tongue is over crowded, it will not be an issue. You would need to purchase a hitch ball separately with this one as well.
