Parts Needed To Add Electric Trailer Brakes To Tandem Axle Utility Trailer With 3,500LB Axles

Question:

Good Afternoon, I was wondering what type of electric brakes would,if possible, work properly for a dual axle standard 16 trailer. The tires on it are ST205/75/15. I have some pics of wheel type but cant find where to attach them. Please let me know if you need any additional info. Thank you in advance.

Based on the images it appears you have 3,500lb axles under your utility trailer. If this is what you have you will need the 2 of the Brake Kits # AKEBRK-35-SA. These are self adjusting brakes which will not require any adjustment once you have them initially set. You will pair these with 4 of the Hub/Drum Assemblies # AKHD-545-35-K which have a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern. You will want to verify this does match your current wheels. These hubs also included standard grease caps similar to what you have. I recommend upgrading to 2 sets of the Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors # BB1980A-SS which allow you to more easily fill your hubs with grease.

If your trailer was not wired for trailer brakes you will need the 7-Way Wiring Kit # HS381-9000 along with a Breakaway Battery Kit # C52042. I have also linked an article we have below which will help you through the installation process. Please let me know if you find you do not have 3,500lb axles or have a different wheel bolt pattern.
