How To Determine 4-Way Wiring On a Trailer For Connecting a New 4-Way Flat Connector
Question:
Im trying to reconnect trailer lights to a 4-way flat plug. The trailer has red, green, yellow, and brown wires and the plug the typical white, green, yellow, brown. I know red goes to green, but I forget the other connections. I assumed green to white and then yellow- yellow, brown-brown, but the left trailer light is still not working, even after replacing the bulb.

With your trailer having the different colored wires you are going to need to identify each wire function to know exactly what wires to connect your new 4-Way # W787264. This 4-way uses white for ground, brown for running/clearance lights, yellow for left turn/brake and green for the right turn/brake.
You will first want to follow the wiring on your trailer as this should help you determine the ground. Knowing the ground wire will make it easier to use a battery for testing the lights for function on the trailer. You can connect the ground wire to the negative battery terminal and then each individual wire to the positive and record what lights come on. Once you know each lights function you will be able to connect it to your new harness.
