Troubleshooting Kodiak Outer Brake Pads Wearing Out Faster Than Inner Brake Pads

brake pads - outer break pads wear far more that inner break pads. outers are almost completely worn down and inner are maybe 10 worn. using Kodiak 3500lb 225 SS caliper, 10 inch hub/rotor. any thoughts outside of replacing my caliper?

For uneven brake pad wear on your 10" Kodiak Disc Brakes # KOD67FR you'll need to check the guide bolts as they likely are moving slowly or might even be seized up. This can be due to brake dust getting around the rubber boot and causing it to have a smaller diameter, or the bolts to no longer have proper lubricant.

Remove the guide bolts and if they are dirty be sure to clean them with brake cleaner, wipe it all off, and then apply some silicone lubricant like the spray # RM-747 before reinstalling them into the caliper. Be sure to check for any grooves or flat parts on the bolts as well - either of those would mean the bolt needs to be replaced.

If you find that the rubber boot, sleeve, or the bolt needs to be replaced then you can get some replacements here:
