Stainless Steel Hub & Rotor Disc Brake Kit With Oil Bath & 6 on 5-1/2 Bolt Pattern For Boat Trailer

Question:

My saltwater boat trailer hubs, spindles and brakes are badly rusted and probably need to be replaced. 15 x 6 bolt x 5.5 wheels, single torsion axle, 3900 pound capacity trailer. Stainless and oil bath hubs preferred. Please recommend parts needed for repairs. Thank you!

Since you have 15 inch wheels with a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern the only disc brake kit that would work are for 5,200 lb to 6,000 lb axles, though you mentioned having a 3,900 lb capacity trailer. But since you are replacing your spindle, this won't be an issue, as you'll just weld on the #42 Spindle for 5,200-lb to 7,000-lb Trailer Axles # TRU57FR.

Then for a disc brake kit that fits this spindle, there isn't a fully stainless option that also has an oil bath, but if you're okay with the calipers being stainless and the hub/rotor being dacromet go with the Kodiak Disc Brakes - 12" Hub/Rotor - 6 on 5-1/2 - Dacromet/Stainless - 5.2K to 6K - Oil # KOD36FR.

Or, for a totally stainless steel version that uses grease, go with the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit - 12" Rotor - 6 on 5-1/2 - Stainless Steel - 5,200 lbs to 6,000 lbs # K2R526S.

A couple things to keep in mind is that you do need to have a qualified welder fabricator weld on your new spindle, and also for these brakes you do need to have a 5-bolt brake mounting flange.
