Recommended Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser

Question:

I have a sterling tow bar and need plates for my Toyota fj. But I don’t like the cross bar type. Do they make them for the fj? Can you share that info and are there any packages for wiring? Also are brakes now required in all states on the toad vehicle? Thank you in advance.

To avoid using the Roadmaster crossbar piece you can install the Demco Classic base plate kit on your 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser and use an adapter to get them to match up. Since you're looking for a complete setup I'll give you my recommendation for parts:

- Sterling Tow Bar # RM-576 (you should already have this and your safety cables)
- Demco Classic Base Plate Kit # DM9517211
- Adapter # DM9523036 (tow bar serial number up to up to 14,500) OR Adapter # DM9523062 (tow bar serial number above 14,501)
- Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267
- Brake System # DM26VR (motorhome air brakes) OR # DM86VR (motorhome hydraulic brakes)
- Brake-Lite Relay Kit # RM-88400
- High-Low Adapter (see attached article - bracket height is 26")
