Can a Trailer Tongue Jack Motor Be Replaced For a Stronger Motor To Increase Capacity?

Question:

My motor works but about half way up it cuts out almost like it thinks it at the end of its stroke. It happens all over, not just in one spot. Ive tried the jumper wires and the power seems fine everything works the same. I think maybe the motor is getting week. Is there a bigger motor out there that is good for more than 3500lbs?

It sounds like you are having issues with a tongue jack on your trailer not fully retracting. Typically the motor for a tongue jack is not interchangeable. With your jack constantly stopping in the same place but not fully retracting the screw inside the jack is likely damaged and you will most likely need to replace the entire jack. We do have the Stromberg Carlson Electric Trailer Jack # JET-5000 which is rated for 5,000lbs. With the higher rating the components inside the jack are going to be stronger as well. If you are referring to something different please let me know so I can help you find the best option.
