Parts Needed To Wire Tail Lights Separate From Brake Lights When Flat Towing a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500
Question:
The instructions for this RO44FR states - If your RV has separate tail light wiring, wherein the brake and turn signals run on separate wires, youll need a wiring converter RM-732 - sold separately to complete this installation.inch I want my amber turn lights and red brake lights to work separately. Is there a wiring diagram of how to use this kit in combination with the RM-723 wiring converter? Im installing on a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500.

To wire up the lights on your 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 so the turn signals operate separately from the brake lights you will need a few extra parts. To begin you do not need the Roadmaster Universal Wiring Kit with Smart Diodes # RO44FR as you do not have variable voltage tail lights on your Sierra. Instead you will need a Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 which will connect to a Curt 2 to 3 Wire Tail Light Converter # C56196. This is the opposite of the Converter # RM-732 which combines the brake and turn signals together. The Curt # C56196 will separate the lighting functions. It will require 2 additional Diodes # RM-792 and since your Sierra has LED tail lights you will need 3 Load-Resistors # P230004A as the Curt converter is designed for incandescent lights and will not operate correctly if connected to LED lights directly.
