Comparing Aftermarket and Dealer Installed Transmission Coolers for a 2018 Honda Pilot
Question:
I have a 2018 Honda pilot and installed the dealer upgrade kit that includes a aft cooler however Im still getting high atf temps around 240 when pulling up hills is this a better radiator than the upgrade kit the Honda dealer provides that is suppose to increase towing capacity to 5000 lbs

The best transmission cooler you can install is the largest one you have space for. I don't know much about the factory one you referenced but a good size for this vehicle is the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler part # D13504 which measures 11" wide x 12" tall x 7/8" deep. This can be used to replace your existing cooler or added in-line for even more cooling capability. It's a complete kit that comes with everything you need.
Please note, if the vehicle has any tow/haul settings you'll want to make sure you use these or even if a manual shift is available as that would help to reduce transmission fluid temps since you won't be shifting as often and early.
