Availability of a Transmission Cooler for a 5.3 Liter 2007 Chevy Suburban

Question:

I am looking for a transmission cooler for a 2007 Chevy Suburban with the 5.3L V8 FFV engine. I can only see parts listed for the 6.0L. Do you carry an transmission cooler for the 5.3Ls?

Yes, since the transmission coolers are not fit guided the 6.0 liter coolers will work with your 2007 Chevy Suburban with 5.3 liter motor.

I recommend you measure the space you have for installing a transmission cooler to gauge which cooler will fit best. Select the correct transmission cooler by determining where there is enough space to mount it. The best three positions to mount the transmission cooler in order. At Position A, where the transmission cooler is 100% efficient, mount the cooler between your vehicle's grille and the AC condenser core. Position B, between the air conditioning condenser and radiator, is 75% efficient while Position C, between the radiator and fan, is only 60% efficient. See diagram to the right. Transmission coolers are more efficient when they receive maximum air flow.

There are three basic types of heat exchangers. Tube and fin, plate and fin and stacked plate. I have attached an FAQ about transmission coolers.

The transmission cooler I recommend is Derale # D13503. The overall dimensions are 11-inches wide x 8-3/4 inches tall x 7/8 inches deep. It's specifically designed for Chevrolet Suburban's with late-model, electronic overdrive transmissions.

To avoid cutting and flaring transmission lines you could use the snap-in hose fitting part # D13035 which connects your radiator to transmission cooler.

I have included a couple FAQ's for you as well.
