Why Can't The Included 2" Receiver Be Used With a Separate Ball Mount For 2023 Hyundai Palisade?
Question:
I am having a hard time understanding why the 2” receiver can not be used for towing utilizing a standard tow bar? What’s the difference if it’s rated up to 600 pounds. The other posts I have seen do not do a very though job of explaining. I have a single axle travel trailer that weights approx 3400 pounds and it utilizes a weight distributing hitch that requires use of a 2” receiver. I am not carrying any more weight than the bar/ball that comes in the package. Thanks. 2023 Palisade

Helpful Expert Reply:
The 2" Receiver # 391RR2 included with the Stealth Hitches Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 391HYUNPALIS19T is only for use with hitch mounted accessories. Using the 2" receiver with a separate ball mount will push the connection out further an creates more of a torsional force on the connection and cross tube. Stealth decided you are only able to use their included Ball Mount # 391BMU5L for towing. If you were to use the 2" receiver with a separate ball mount and it should damage the receiver or your vehicle you would be held liable as they specifically state to never use when towing.
