Hello, neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer. And today, we're taking a look at the stealth hitch replacement ball mount. The great part about these stealth hitches is the fact that when not in use, you get that nice clean look of not having a hitch by just dropping these out. Now, problem is you have to find a place to store these, and if you keep them in your vehicle, that's probably a great spot. But if you happen to misplace one, as I might because I tend to misplace things, you're gonna need to replace it.
And that's where this comes into place. You can simply pick up just this piece and be able to tow again. Now, if you still have one, but maybe you tow a bunch of different trailer sizes with different balls, this one's a 2", so if you have a trailer that's 1 7/8" or maybe a larger ball, instead of having to swap this out and re-torque the ball every time, you can get a separate one with a different ball and swap them out as necessary. Now this does not come with the ball and that's so you can choose the proper size for your trailer. But if you have a multitude of different trailers, whether it be a 2" or 2 5/16", that's no problem.
I can simply get a ball on the other one and swap them out whenever I need to hook up to that specific trailer. So when I'm swapping to a different sized ball, I'd pop out my other one and simply put this one back in place. Then we're ready to hook up to our other trailer. Now keep in mind, the weight rating is not gonna change just based on the ball. You need to look at the actual hitch and this ball mount before actually hooking up.
Also, you wanna check your vehicle's owner's manual to make sure that that weight is not exceeding the hitch or what the vehicle can actually tow. Overall, this is gonna be a great option for those of you with the stealth hitch that do tow a few different trailers with different ball sizes and be able to swap them out nice and easy is really nice. Now it's also gonna be great if you have misplaced one and you wanna replace that missing one. Either way, you're not out of luck and we're here to help. I really like the way the stealth hitch is hidden when not in use on my Volvo XC90.
This hitch was a must have so that I could own a Porsche Turbo GT and still have a tow vehicle when needed on rare occasions. I made a replaceable cover between the exhaust pipes and hid the plug behind a hinged license plate. I then used stainless steel shackles to help facilitate connection of the safety chains. Had to remove bumper for install, but it was well worth it. Just keep the OEM bumper as it will be needed if you sell the vehicle to make it a certified pre-owned (CPO).
As I have indicated in a prior review, the whole thing is a big gimmick. Yes, the hitch is hidden, but that is really the only benefit. It's hard to use, comes with a mediocre wiring harness kit for the car, and overall you can get spare parts, but they cost time and money. The whole reason I needed to buy a second stealth hitch receiver is because I lost the first and it is totally proprietary. Overall, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. Stick to the standard square mount receiver.
Solid. This paired with the Stealth Rack Receiver kit is a very nice setup.

This product is great it has a 3 inch drop compared to the original ball hitch. Delivery was fast even to Canada. I would recommend this company and his brother to anyone

While i wont use it till next winter towing toys its great unique product. When I need it, I have it and when not towing which is 95% of time I wont break an ankle or fall over it.
