Can You Move the Spring Seats on the 2K 60" Dexter Trailer Axle with Idler Hubs
Question:
I have a 2021 Harbor Freight 1720 lb trailer. I have/am replacing the tires to a 175/80 R13 tire, the original tires are all ready wore out. Thinking its the cheap axle, trailer is used to haul 2 Kayaks and cooler behind our 5th wheel. Looking at your 2000 lb axle that is 60inch from hub to hub. Question is the current axle is 57 1/4 hub to hub and 47inch to the center of the spring shackle. The 60inch doesnt bother me, the new tire are wider and need to move out since the rub just a little on your finders bolts I installed. But the spring shackle are off by 1inch it appears. Any suggestion or can they be moved and rewelded with no problem?

Correct, you can move the spring seats on the Dexter Trailer Axle with Idler Hubs part # 20545I-ST-60-10 in or out to match your trailer. In order to do so, simply cut the tack welds to free the seat and then tack them back into place where you need them. Please note, you'll also need new u-bolts like the U-Bolt Kit for Mounting 2K Axles part # APUBR-10. If you damage the old spring seats cutting them off you can replace them with the Spring Seat part # TRSS175.
