Tow-Pro Liberty or Tow-Pro Elite? Which Redarc Brake Controller for a 2009 Chevy Avalanche?

Question:

Trailer Guys, I am adding a trailer brake controller to my 2009 Chevy Avalanche w/Factory Installed Towing Package. I have narrowed my search to the Redarc Controllers as I do not want something to bang my knees on under the dash. When I plug my truck’s info into your search, you recommend the Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller, but not the Tow-Pro Liberty. However, if I eliminate the Towing package in the search criteria, you do recommend the Tow-Pro Liberty. As I do not need a 12/24 volt compatible system, why the difference?

I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty item # RED24FR over the Elite item # RED44FR because you get the best functions of the Elite at a lower price. The Elite can be a proportional brake controller along with a time-delayed one whereas the Liberty gives you only the proportional setting. You will want to use a proportional controller with your towing setup.

I checked with our vendors and even though your 2009 Chevy Avalanche came with a factory installed towing package there is no port for a plug in brake controller adapter. You will have to use the Universal Installation Harness item # RED69FR to complete the install. From our installers tech tips it looks like the wires are already ran but there is no plug at the end of them.
