The Blue Ox Patriot systems, like the # BLU37TR, do not have an internal battery so whenever they lose power they will not function. This means that if it dies you'll essentially have no braking system in place. If you're using a system that relies on battery powered from the towed vehicle then you should always install a charge line kit like the # RM-156-25.
This charge line kit is super easy to install, simply run a line with a fuse up to the 6-pole socket at the front of your vehicle.
Next you'll want to make sure the 7-way on your motorhome has a charge line installed already. You'll want to use a tester # PTW2993 on the top right 12v hot lead contact to see if it's getting voltage. If not, you can install the # RM-156-75 to get a charge line on your motorhome.
With charge lines in place you'll never have to worry about your towed vehicle's battery dying and your Patriot losing power.
