Will Towing Capacity Of 2016 Kia Sorento Increase w/ Weight Distribution Hitch?
Question:
Hello, I have the 2016 Kia Sorento LX AWD with the V6. Owner manual says towing capacity is 5000lbs but hitch weight is limited to 350lbs. That cant be right can it? Shouldnt it be 500lbs? Can I use weight ditribution to go over 350lbs?

I took a look at the owner's manual for your '16 Kia Sorento LX AWD V6 and it does indeed say that even with the tow package and 5000lb towing capacity, your tongue weight is limited to 350lb.
Using weight distribution will not allow you to exceed the factory tongue weight capacity, and none of the hitches for your vehicle are rated for use for weight distribution so you need to stick with a trailer that is under this weight, or use a different tow vehicle with adequate towing capacity.
Assuming your vehicle has the towing package you'll just need to stay under 5000lb trailer weight and 350lbs tongue weight, and all you'll need is a ball mount kit # 989900.
If your Sorento does NOT have the towing capacity it is limited to 3500lb trailer weight and 350lb tongue weight so as long as your trailer stays under those capacities you'd need the following parts:
Trailer hitch # e98843
Wiring harness # 118583
Ball mount kit # 989900
I included some videos of the included parts for you to take a look at.
