Will Dash Message Pop Up on 2016 Chevy Silverado 3500 if ITBC is Replaced with Aftermarket
Question:
Good morning, I have a customer that wants to use an aftermarket brake controller instead of the ITBC on his 2016 Chevy, he is concerned that once the factory controller is disconnected that there will be a fault/error message that will constantly come up on his dash saying there is an issue with the trailer brakes or controller, do you have any information on this issue?? According to GM, if you bypass the ITBC (integrated brake controller) on the 2016 Chevy Silverado 3500 with the Prodigy P2 # 90885 and Plug-In Adapter # 3016 you won't have any issues with messages popping up on your dash. You'll want to use 12 Gauge Wire # 12-1-1 and Butt Connectors # DW05745-5 to connect the blue wire from the plug-in adapter to the 7-Way brake output on your OEM wiring.
