Dimensions of Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box for Lippert 1621

Question:

Hello, my truck is lifted and with the standard 5th wheel in my truck the camper sits 141 ft I was gonna put a flatbed on the truck and switch to this style hitch to use with the gooseneck. My main concern is. How much of a height adjustment would this have over the regular hitch on the trailer. Camper is a 2020 forest river cardinal 3780lfle

The Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # GY56FR, you were looking at, is designed to replace a standard pin box. This means dimensionally it will be comparable if not identical to the pin box currently on your Forest River Cardinal. Replacement pin boxes like this one keep the same or very similar clearance to the original. It has the same bolt pattern as the Lippert 1621 and mounts using your existing bolts.

So long as the flatbed doesn't raise the height of the connection point up significantly you won't have an issue swapping out pin boxes. You will want to confirm what the height difference if any is going to be.

I have linked a diagram below that will show you the dimensions of the Gen-Y item # GY56FR.

If you would like me to confirm your pin box number go ahead and email me back with the RPO and Serial Number on the white sticker attached to your pin box. Or if you are able you can just send me a picture of it.

You will also need the Safety Chain with 2 Hooks for Gen-Y 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # GY49GR. None of the 5th wheel to gooseneck converters come with the required safety chains.
