Can A Weight Distribution System Be Used To Tow Without The Spring Bars?

I use a be atlas to tow a travel trailer. The previous owner gave me the weight distribution hitch with bars. However vw manual said not to use WDH. Can I just take the bars off use it as a regular hitch ball system when pulling the trailer?

Yes you can absolutely just use the weight distribution head, like the Replacement Head for Reese Weight Distribution System # RP58167 to tow your trailer.
