Recommended Brake Controller for a 2006 Kenworth T300 w/ Air Brakes

Question:

I have a 2006 Kenworth T300 pulling a stacker trailer. The brake controller only works by lever. Not by pedal. Clearly the wrong controller. Could you tell me which controller I need to get to synchronize the truck with air brakes with the trailer with electric brakes

I would be happy to help you. For your 2006 Kenworth T300 I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller item # 90885. This controller ties into the brake stoplight switch that's usually located above the brake pedal, which is what tells the controller that the vehicle brakes are being applied so the connection is purely electrical, not hydraulic or air actuated.

What is important is that the controller is wired to your Kenworth correctly. The red wire runs to the stoplight circuit of your truck. You will want to find a circuit that only sees voltage when the brakes are applied and none when they aren't applied. The white wire gets grounded to the negative side of your battery, the black wire gets run through a circuit breaker like our item # 9506P that attaches to the positive side of your battery and the blue wire gets run to the brake output circuit of the 7-way on your truck. For the wiring you could use item # 10-1-1 that is sold by the foot.
