Recommended 7-Way Connector and Brake Controller for a 2016 Ford F-150 w/ Factory 4-Flat
Question:
I have a four pin currently need to install a 7 pin so I can tow my jayco 17fd. Looking for a complete kit. Also is it easy to install an anti sway trailer hitch. It was recommended to get the setup. I have installed a bumper hitch car stereos with amplifiers so I didn’t think this would be too hard.

To add a 7-way connector to your 2016 Ford F-150 you will need the the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires item # ETBC7. The kit includes a pre-wired 7- and 4-way trailer connector that mounts easily at the rear of your F-150 with an included bracket.
This kit is designed for use on a vehicle with an existing 4-way flat trailer connector and plugs directly into it. You will then connect the blue wire to the blue wire on your brake controller, connect the black wire to the positive post on your F-150's battery, the white wire to ground, and the yellow wire to your reverse circuit if applicable. This will provide you with the ability to control your trailer's brakes and also provide you with a 12v power wire for you trailer's accessory lights.
I have linked an installation video below.
I have linked a couple of installation videos along with the installation instructions for both the 7-way and the weight distribution system. I recommend watching both to see if these installs are within your skill set.
If you need a brake controller I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller item # 90195. This is a proportional brake controller that activates your trailer brakes in proportion to your F-150's braking action.
